Traditional Analog Process

About the Prints

All black and white work is from the traditional analog process of medium and large format film cameras. The prints are on fiber based paper and archivally processed. The color work is camera digital and the prints are inkjet and as archival as can be done at this time in digital evolution.

About the Series

A PRAIRIE RONDE ISLAND

Cameras used included medium format of 6x6 cm, 6x7 cm, 4x5 inch and 5x7 inch film. The prints are on 16x20 inch Agfa Portriga-Rapid paper which are unique because this paper is no longer manufactured.

OUTLAND

I built a medium format film 6x12 cm camera for this series to utilize the panorama narrative. The prints are on sheeted down 20x24 inch Illford multigrade fiber base paper.

NIGHT LIGHT: THE AESTHETICS OF TIME BY EVENTS IN SPACE

I built several cameras for this series which utilize 4x5 inch and 5x7 inch film. The prints are on 20x24 inch and 40 inch roll Illford multigrade fiber base paper. The largest image size 26x34 inch. Only a few selected images are in this larger size because of the intense labor and difficulty printing the wet process at this scale.

RECENT COLOR

The digital camera used provides a 17 mega pixel raw file to work from. The inkjet prints utilizes Epson Ultra Chrome inks on 17x22 inch and 44” roll paper. Only a select few images have been printed 24x36 inches.
