I have always enjoyed
color and taught color theory for years at Western Michigan
University as a component of foundation design and as part
of the photography curriculum. I did not use color in my various
photographic series because color was not core to the concept.
This body of color work is for me a fun response to places
that I enjoy. The Western landscape pieces occurred while researching
for sites for the Night Light series and the winter landscape
images are from where I live, that is to say, from my backyard.
